Hear Me Out: A Night of Taking Sides

Entrepreneurs have strong opinions. The people around them usually learn to just let them have them.

Hear Me Out is a night of hot takes. Our moderator reads a statement out loud and the room splits - agree on one side, disagree on the other. Then the mic comes out, a few people from each side get 30 to 60 seconds to make their case, and we move on to the next one. Some takes are about business (“if your company can’t run without you for two weeks, you own a job, not a business”). Some are about the life around it (“Being in a relationship with an entrepreneur is harder than being one.”). And a few are there purely to settle things once and for all (“a hot dog is a sandwich”).

The best part of a night like this is who you end up standing next to. Walk to the “agree” side on something you assumed was an unpopular opinion and you’ll find yourself shoulder to shoulder with members you’ve never properly met, who happen to see it exactly the way you do. Look across the room and you’ll spot the people you’ll want to find at the bar afterward to hear how they got to the other side. Either way, you’re leaving with a few new connections.

Keeping it all moving is Ann Sheu - speaker, founder of Mpowered Journey, and a Certified EOS Implementer. Ann spends most of her time helping leaders make clear decisions under pressure and say what they actually think. She’s spoken to EO and YPO communities around the country, and she’s used to a crowd that pushes back.

Since our event falls a few days before Valentine’s Day, this is a great opportunity to bring a date, a spouse, or a partner. Expect to end up on opposite sides of the room at some point during the night, with plenty to talk about on the way home.

Doors open at 6:00 PM with food and drinks, the program runs from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, and the rest of the night leaves time to mingle with the people you just argued with, or made up with, before things wind down at 9:30 PM.
