In Defense – A Fireside Chat with Rose Scapicchio and Sean Ellis
📍 Ned Devine’s
📅 Wednesday, October 15
🕠 5:30–8:30 PM
At 19, Sean Ellis was wrongfully convicted of murdering a Boston police officer—after two mistrials and egregious misconduct by law enforcement. He spent nearly 22 years behind bars before being fully exonerated. His path to freedom was paved by the unshakable dedication of criminal defense attorney Rosemary Curran Scapicchio, who relentlessly fought the system that failed him. Their story, now the subject of Netflix’s Trial 4, is a masterclass in perseverance, strategy, and standing tall when the odds are stacked against you.
Rose has spent over three decades exposing police corruption and challenging wrongful convictions in the courtroom—including a win before the U.S. Supreme Court. Sean, now Director of the Exoneree Network, advocates for criminal justice reform and supports others reentering society after wrongful imprisonment.
This intimate fireside chat, moderated by EO Boston’s Mark Stiles, pulls back the curtain on one of Boston’s most high-profile legal battles—and the entrepreneurial grit it took to challenge entrenched systems.
