Being an entrepreneur sometimes feels like being on an island. In many ways, this independence is liberating—being your own boss might be the primary reason you decided to take this path in the first place. Still, we can’t do everything on our own. Everyone has blind spots, which is why linking up with others in a similar situation is so important. Learning about other people’s perspectives and experiences is invaluable, and if you want to achieve more and more success, you have to get out of your comfort zone and see who (and what) is out there.
Fortunately, Boston, Massachusetts has no shortage of like-minded self-starters, and it’s not lacking in unique event spaces, either. Boston’s a rooted, business-oriented city, and if you’re fortunate enough to be a part of the Boston community, the next once-in-a-lifetime events might be just days away. Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) Boston facilitates some of the most exciting gatherings for business owners in the area, from firewalks to escape rooms and everything in between. These events aren’t just engaging and memorable—they serve as the foundation for lifelong connections with your peers, connections that help each EO Boston member solve problems, scale operations, grow as leaders, and more.
Let’s explore what some of our most compelling events and opportunities look like.
1. Firewalks
EO Boston hosts routine firewalk events that double as peer entrepreneur gatherings, an avenue for entrepreneurs to meet their peers, network, encourage one another, and learn from each other’s experiences. Through a firewalk, entrepreneurs test their resilience by walking on hot coals, collaborating to get the desired results. It’s metaphorical, to be sure, but the feeling is real—and anyone who’s completed this trial can attest to the exhilarating feeling afterward.
2. The Inc 5000 Awards Dinner
The Inc 5000 Awards Dinner is an exclusive award event that celebrates the most successful and competitive businesses of the year. Inc. Magazine, through these events, recognizes many successful global companies. Growing business owners can share their entrepreneurial challenges with their successful peers and learn from their experiences.
3. Escape Room Adventures
Of all the challenges an entrepreneur may face, exiting an escape room might not be at the top of anyone’s list. That said, an escape room offers an excellent way for entrepreneurs to connect without the pressure of a formal networking event. A peer entrepreneur gathering like this encourages discussion, collaboration, and critical thinking—the perfect fuel for establishing a lasting network of peers.
Boston is home to some of the best-organized escape room events, and EO Boston hosts a typically sold-out Forum Escape room every year, with one fixed for May 10 in Massachusetts this year (2023).
Whether in Metrowest Boston, North Shore Boston, or South Shore Boston, you can attend this event and learn from other industry leaders how to overcome new and existing entrepreneur challenges.
4. Lunch and Learn Events
Members of EO Boston enjoy the rare privilege of picking the brains of some of the best mentors at various exclusive luncheon events hosted throughout the year. This year, on May 7, saw another exclusive lunch meeting with Tim Grover, a world-class trainer, and mentor to various sports stars, including Dwyane Wade, Michael Jordan, and Russel Wilson, with over 30 years of experience under his belt. Through an event like this, Boston business owners can share their struggles and triumphs while receiving guidance. Who best to give an answer than Tim, the Times bestselling author of RELENTLESS: From Good to Great to Unstoppable?
5. Accelerator Events
Although EO Boston is exclusive to successful founders, there is the accelerator programs where emerging businesses within the threshold of $250,000 and above can network and learn from several peer entrepreneur gatherings. These include Accelerator People Day, where entrepreneurs can learn people strategies that work, how to navigate and work with people, and Accelerator Strategy Day, where entrepreneurs can present their strategies for fine-tuning from experts and learn how to develop working strategies for their business.
Next Steps?
Attendees of corporate events often find them predictable and less stimulating, as not much thought is put into curating activities that can spark excitement. Although often difficult to pull off, planning fun corporate events in Boston is not impossible.
